John James Treloar
The Treloar brothers, James Henry and John James settled in the Hamilton/Condah Swamp area in Western Victoria in the late 1850's.  Both were farmers.

John James married Elizabeth Julyan (or Julia) Hodges at Hamilton in 1858.   Elizabeth is believed to have been born at Mevagissey in Cornwall.  How or when she came to Australia is not at this point known to the writer.  They had eight children, 6 boys and 2 girls.

The family at some point set about growing roses, and the name Treloar Roses are well known in Australia, and possibly overseas.  The large nursery just north of Portland in the Western Districts is still owned and run by decendants of John James.
